Dr. Mitchell has been a key player in the Foundation for 20 years. A dynamic physician and visionary, he works closely with the Trustees and is largely responsible for the extraordinary scientific talent, expertise and wisdom present on the Advisory Councils.
A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Mitchell joined the Foundation in 1982 as deputy executive officer and member of the Medical Advisory Council. He became vice president in 1985 and assumed the presidency upon the founder's retirement in 1989. An international authority on alcohol and liver metabolism, his scientific research has been published in a wide array of scientific papers, journals and texts. In addition, Dr. Mitchell is directly involved in putting research into the clinical practice of medicine. He is listed in the Best Doctors in America.
Executive Vice President
Robin A. Kroft, Ph.D.
Dr. Kroft directs the Foundation's daily management and administration, including the grant program. She joined the Foundation in 1993 as Director of Information Services and has also served as Deputy Executive Officer. A graduate of York University, Ryerson Polytechnic Institute, The Johns Hopkins University, and the Union Institute, Dr. Kroft has worked for Johns Hopkins, serving the hospital’s Physician-in-Chief and the university’s Annual Fund Office. She is also teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Nonprofit Management at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland
Director of Development and Communications
Lisa C. Hoffberger, B.A.
Ms. Hoffberger, a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, has experience with both public and private sector organizations in development, planning, marketing, and communications. Most recently Ms. Hoffberger served as a marketing consultant for a neuroscience clinical trial at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. She has worked on the development staff at Johns Hopkins Medicine and in marketing with the former Maryland National Bank (now Bank of America).
Controller
Janet L. Hanratty, C.P.A.
Ms. Hanratty joined the Foundation as a financial officer in 1991. Before that she was a senior accountant with Walpert, Smullian & Blumenthal in Baltimore. Her public accounting experience includes auditing small and mid-size companies, reviewing and implementing industry-specific internal control systems, and preparing corporate and personal income tax returns.

Christine Woon, B.S.
Ms. Woon has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore and has a long employment history supporting marketing and administration with area businesses.
