The primary purpose of the Foundation is to fund innovative studies through its research grant program. 

The Foundation supports studies conducted by qualified researchers at academic and scientific institutions in Canada and the United States. 

The Foundation also encourages research by convening and supporting research conferences, symposia and workshops, and disseminates knowledge about alcohol consumption and its effects through its communications activities.
